Christening and first birthday photos the whole family collects in one place

A newborn session or a christening has a wider audience than an ordinary portrait shoot. The photos reach parents, grandparents, godparents and close family — often forwarded through a messenger, at lower quality and with no control over where they stop.

For the photographer that means two things at once. First, the material spreads before any decision about an album or prints has been made — and once everyone has seen everything, the order is a harder conversation. Second, the frames that represent your work go into circulation compressed and cropped by a chat app.

And then the most practical point: the parents of a small child do not have time to work through three hundred photos at a computer. The choice slips by weeks, and the whole settlement slips with it.

When a family receives a folder of photos, it does one thing with it: forwards whatever it likes. That is an instant decision, made on the first scroll, and it has nothing to do with what belongs in an album. The best frames end up spread across chat apps, and the conversation about a photographic product never starts.

Choosing for an album looks different — it is slower, made by two people, and it needs similar shots compared side by side. It needs a tool where you can mark, unmark, come back the next day and only then confirm. A folder of files cannot do that, because it stores no decision at all.

A selection gallery separates the two. Viewing and reacting happen in previews not worth forwarding, while the choice is made deliberately and comes back to you as a list. So the album conversation happens while the parents are actually comparing frames — not a week after everyone has already seen everything.
